Alli Weight Loss Pill is Only OTC Drug In Market

In order to lose weight one needs to understand how weight increases, what are the responsible factors and what works best to reduce weight. Body system processes eaten food through chain of reactions to get energy out of it. Some part of the eaten food gets converted into energy and fat. Although, fat is an essential part of body system, it poses danger when fat accumulation occurs. Fat accumulates in body when fat is available more than the body requires. In medical language such condition is known as obese or over weight.

One of the first remedies for overweight patients is to burn calorie through exercise and consuming food that are low in calorie. Patients who fail to respond diet and exercise are prescribed to diet pills or weight loss pills. However, physicians only prescribe such medicines only in case overweight condition is going to pose life threatening conditions such as strokes, heart diseases etc. Most of the weight loss pills are prescription only.

What id Alli (Orlistat)?
Alli is the only OTC weight loss drug in the market. One needs no prescription to buy Alli. Clinical trials and research have found that Alli speeds up weight reduction when accompanied with proper diet and exercise. However, trial results also states that taking Alli alone without diet has shown no effects.

A low-calorie-diet with Alli helps reduce weight 50% faster than the diet alone (i.e. without Alli).
More precise statistic is that a person, with Alli, loses 1lb to every 2lb lost by diet and exercise. It means, obese patient loses total 3lb if diet followed by Alli, and loses only 2lb without Alli.

How Alli Works?
Every process in human body is regulated by specific enzymes and so does fat formation process. Alli works by attaching itself to certain type of receptors and blocks an enzyme (known as lipases) from getting activated. This result in slowing down process that forms fat from food. Body system eliminates unprocessed substances as waste

Why Alli?
A drug is labeled as OTC (Over the counter) when it is found to be safe to take without consultation with a doctor. Since Alli works in intestine (GI tract) it does not affect heart or other parts of the body. Thus, Alli is safe, secure and effective to lose weight without inviting other health problems.

How To Take Alli?
Alli with low-calorie diet is clinically proven method for faster weight loss.
Even though Alli is OTC drug, there is a small booklet called Alli Weight Loss Program for complete weight loss programme guidance. Alli Weight Loss Pills

Most Effective Impotence Drugs: Viagra or Cialis?

Popularity of erectile dysfunction drug Cialis is threatening long market dominance of Viagra. Given that Cialis effects last longer than Viagra, more and more patients are using it as an alternative to Viagra. This is because patients do not want to increase the dose of Viagra and yet want greater effects.

A report says that until recent past Viagra enjoyed 61%-63% of total market share for erectile dysfunction treatment. Cialis was not even half closer to Viagra with only 24%-26% share.

Maker of drug Cialis claims it to be no 1 impotence treatments. Couples prefer cialis over Viagra because of its cost, effects and less severe side effects as compare to Viagra. Eight sporadic studies suggest that after using both drugs for 2 to 6 months patients, at the end of the trial, found Cialis suitable for all of their needs. Eli Lilly credits success of the drug to its unique working mechanism which is somewhat similar to Viagra but differs in terms of dose and lasting effect.

Cialis helps achieve erection in lesser amount of time as compare to Viagra. Furthermore, patients who take Cialis can maintain erection for 36 hours. People see these as major advantage and prime reason to switch to cialis.

However, Cialis still has long way to go in order to overtake Viagra. Benefits such as being first impotence drug, strong reputation and most trusted brand, Viagra is likely to be leading drug for few more years. Viagra is famous so much so that almost 99 percent Americans are aware of Viagra and, as they say, Viagra would be first to be tried out if they face impotence in future.

Stem Cell May Treat Baldness Effectively

Scientists have come across a new method to treat baldness. Researchers, while studying transplantation of a body part, found development of new skin as well as hair follicle. The report has been submitted to Nature Journal.

However, research was not intended to find new baldness treatment. Scientists wanted to study the development after stem cells are implanted on growing skin. The prime motive of research was to help burnt victims to develop new skin. Researchers were amazed to see not only new skin development but also found new hair follicles. This finding may lead to permanent treatment to baldness. A healthy thymus (part of immune system) was transplanted to rats. Transplanted cells worked as normal cells of healthy skin.

No treatment is available for baldness so far which guarantee result. Alopecia or Male pattern baldness is most common type of hair loss found in males. It is also found in women, though. Treatment such as Regaine, Propecia and Tricomin are available for male but nothing is available for women which are clinically approved.
Since baldness is most commonly found in males, men accept it as normal. For some men, especially for younger one, it can be serious personality problem.

“Baldness may change the course of life. It is known as life style problem which may cause embarrassment.” says president of Alopecia Foundation. After male pattern baldness, alopecia is second largest cause of baldness in both men and women.

Same kind of stem cells research result was also produced back in 2004 by University of Pennsylvania which cemented belief of treating baldness through stem cells.

New Malaria Drug Is More Effective

A new drug of new class for malaria is likely to hit market. Laboratory tests have found an experimental drug kills malaria drug resistance. If successful, the drug would be the first new drug in around 30 years to treat malaria.

Scientists claimed on Journal Science, even little dose of the drug showed equivalent effects as that of the current drug in market. An experiment was done on mice. Researchers found that it killed the strains of malaria drug-resistant.

Researches are being made across the world by scientists for effective cure of malaria. The efforts are followed by a report that says present drugs have become ineffective. And even the most powerful medicines are falling short for curing malaria as patients have developed drug resistance. The efforts are intended to stop spreading malaria from African countries to other countries.

Being the 3rd most infectious disease, more than 250M people get infected with malaria every year. WHO report suggests 890,000 dies of malaria. Malaria is wide spread disease in African countries.

It’s been over 30 years that a new drug is invented for malaria. Since present drugs have been found vulnerable, a strong need is being felt for a new drug which can withstand and cure new drug-resistance for malaria.

The drug is the result of more than three years of work by almost 30 scientists in five countries. Researchers at a Novartis lab in San Diego sifted through 12,000 chemical compounds starting in 2006, finding 275 that had an impact on the deadliest species of the parasite that causes malaria, according to the study.

The research involves 30 scientists headed by Diagana of Novartis at San Diego, USA. Clinical trials on humans are expected to be started at the end of year.

The most recent drug for curing malaria is Malarone launched in 2001. Malarone is most effective drug for P.Falciparum malaria, the deadliest form of malaria, so far.

Hair Loss Treatments for Women

Although billions of dollar beauty industry is largely focused on female, women still don’t have approved treatments for some of the health issues. Female sexual dysfunction and baldness are two of them. Ironically, there are most successful treatments for men; Viagra for impotence, Propecia for baldness. This is because of fundamental difference between male and female bodies and the way they work. However, in women baldness, there are some treatments that have been effective but are not clinically approved.

Hair Loss Treatments for Women

Regaine (Minoxidil): Regaine is one of the most successful treatments for baldness. Because baldness is largely seen in men, Regaine hair loss treatment got label of ‘for men’. But, hair loss occurs in women too and needless to say it is disastrous problem for them. Women who are facing hair loss and are desperate to prevent further loss, used Regaine and found it equally effective as compare to men. Regaine works by opening calcium channels and thereby creating more blood capillaries. This leads to more blood and nutrition to hair follicles.

Since the same (calcium channels) found in both males and females, Regaine works for both genders.
Furthermore Regaine is FDA approved and OTC medicine i.e. doctor’s prescription is not required to buy.

Tricomin: It is an alternative option for those who are allergic to Minoxidil. Monoxidil, in few people, causes severe itching. Tricomin, like Regaine, stimulates hair growth but does not cause skin problem. Tricomin contains copper peptides which blocks the chemical reaction that forms a hormone responsible for causing hair loss. Tricomin is also being used for wrinkles and acne. Tricomin is available in many forms, shampoos, sprays and gels, for convenient use. Many men are using Tricomin along with Regaine and Propecia.

Hair Loss Treatment not for Women

Propecia is FDA approved prescription medicine to treat baldness in men. It does not work for women as Propecia works by blocking a hormone not found in women.

Flomax Helps Remove Kidney Stone

Doctors have started prescribing Flomax to pass stone in kidney. Flomax is prescription drug to treat BPH i.e. Benign Prostate Hyperplasia. It is found that Flomax effectively helps pass kidney stone in both men and women.

Despite approved by FDA for BPH, Flomax has been great success as a treatment for removing kidney stone. Given its unlabeled use, around 8-10 small clinical trials have been conducted so far. All the studies found that Flomax, sometimes may accompanied with other blood pressure drug such as nifedipine, helps decrease contraction of muscle of a tube that connects two kidneys to bladder. In simple words, intake of extra fluid and flomax widens tube which provides way out for kidney stone. An estimation is that around 4mm stone has 60% chances to flow out within urine. Once a day administration of flomax for about one month can remove stone even 3-5 days faster.

Stone removal treatment with flomax may also include pain medicines. This is because of the fact that removal of stone from kidney is painful. Stone in kidney is deposition of calcium which is hard in nature. Needless to say large sized stone gives pain while passing through narrow urinary tract. Also, uneven shape of the stone adds more to pain.

Although Flomax is approved for men only, it works in women too. Recently a woman of age 38 was successfully treated with Flomax for kidney stone. The Women rushed to the hospital because of abdominal pain on left-side. 4mm stone in kidney found in diagnosis. Doctor suggested to woman go home and gave her prescription for Flomax.

Kidney stone blocks the flow of fluid in urinary tube. This can lead to fluid retention. Flomax, by widening urinary tube, increases smooth flow of fluid which takes stone along with it and finally takes it out of the body through urine.

Viagra Not Effective in Women

Women across the world are eagerly eying on arrival of medicine that help them boost libido. But, to their dismay, no drug has been found effective; be it current drug like Viagra or a drug under experiment or clinical trial. Female Viagra is waited so much so that thousands of searches are being made for ‘female viagra’ or ‘pink viagra’. A study trial of Viagra (indicated for erectile dysfunction in male), for sex desire enhancement in women, had created buzz in recent past. It was found that Viagra helps increase blood flow (to genital area), enhance sexual desire, orgasm, arousal and improved lubrication. Making base of this findings many sales representative started promoting Viagra for female. However, such promotions cost billions of dollars settlement with USA health authorities.

Given the earlier result and huge market, Pfizer conducted a detail trial on women with Viagra to market Viagra to be first female viagra. The clinical trial found that Viagra did help increase blood flow but showed little or no effect on libido as compare to the placebo. On the other hand, use of Viagra showed side effects such headache, flushing and vision problem. Subsequently, Pfizer declared Viagra to be ineffective and pulled out of race.

Furthermore, an anti-depression drug called flibanserin had shown significant improvement in female sex desire. Flibanserin was submitted to FDA for approval as a female libido enhancer. Again, FDA panel, after studying trial data, refused to give approval saying flibanserin was ineffective to treat sexual dysfunction in females.
