You May Need a Prescription for General Cold Drugs

The state, Verginia, has passed a bill where the West Virginians may require a prescription for certain medications that treat cold. This bill (HB2946) passed by the House of Delegates may require a prescription for any drug that contains pseudoephedrine as its ingredient.

To restrain the production of methamphetamine, this move was a must. There have been an increasing number of meth labs in West Virginia as of now, there are many who are in agreement with this decision. As these days there are so many fake products coming up, such moves assure that that the medication that we are consuming is safe. Even the police and the Academy of West Virginia are content with this decision. More than 100 medicines have been under this category.

But there are a few who feel it was an unnecessary decision as it might only increase the cost of health care for common man. The Over the Counter (OTC) manufacturers have been contradicting this initiative of the house.

Chairman Don Perdue, D-Wayne of House Health and Human Resource has stated that though he was initially apprehensive about this move, he was sure very soon after the research.

The meth labs are more dangerous than we might imagine and with the increasing adulteration, it is necessary to safeguard safety for the common man as that is a priority.

Pharmacists are of the opinion that Pseudoephedrine might be a beneficial drug but the way it is being used causes concern.
