Nurofen plus is a known pain relieving medication. It contains two active ingredients namely ibuprofen and codeine. It is believed that the drug works both at the site of the pain as well as helps in reducing the body’s response to pain signals. It is believed that the drug provides fast relief from Migraine, Headache, Cramping Period Pain, Dental Pain, Back Pain, Neuralgia, Rheumatic pain, Muscular pain and Cold & Flu.
Ibuprofen is a main constituent of Nurofen plus. The drug ibuprofen has pain relieving and anti-inflammatory properties. The drug works at the site of pain by blocking the production of the chemicals that cause pain and inflammation in the tissues of the body (these chemicals are called prostaglandins). The other constituent Codeine is used in combination with ibuprofen or paracetamol for effective pain relief. The drug helps to alter the way pain is perceived.
The drug Nurofen plus is not free from side effects. In fact, the side effects of a drug depend from person to person – it may develop with a person or may not. The side effects that are known to be associated with this drug are as follows: Abdominal pain, Nausea, Indigestion, Constipation, Headache, Dizziness, Drowsiness, Hearing Disturbances, Ulceration or bleeding in the stomach, Hypersensitivity reactions, Kidney, liver or blood disorders and Slow or shallow breathing.

Codeine can cause drowsiness, hence, it should not be taken doing some driving or doing some active work that can result into some accident or injury. One should not cross the recommended daily dosage. Taking the drug for pain relief should not be developed as a regular habit; prolonged use of this drug may result into “fatal” injury to the vital organs of the body.
