For the first time FDA approves a drug for treating Melanoma

Till this date the pharmacy and medical science have failed in delivering a medication that could cure Melanoma. Whatever drug was presented to treat this disorder, it was seen that they were somewhere below the standards of FDA (Food And Drug Administration). Dr. Richard Pazdur who is the director of the Office of Oncology products for drug evaluation and research in the department of the FDA (Food And Drug Administration). On the other hand, Melanoma is posing an increasing threat. The latest statistics reveal that Melanoma is rising since 2010. Especially in U.S around 8300 men have died due to this disorder. This research was carried out by the National Cancer Institute. Melanoma is fatal and can the last stage of this can be extremely dangerous as there are hardly any medication capable of treating it. By proving to be the first FDA approved drug to treat Melanoma effectively, this medication has truly won hearts of many. Here the melanoma tumors are attacked skillfully. To check its effectiveness, there was an international study conducted where around 676 patients were studied. The conclusion of the research clearly stated that Yervoy could surely postpone the threat caused by Melanoma when taken in combination with other therapy. However there might be adverse effects associated with this disorder that has to be made aware to the patients who might consume this drug. For this purpose, there will be a guide that will talk about all the necessary facts that the consumer has to be made aware of before the ingestion.

Now Genetic Signals Will Decide, Whether You have Cancer

As per the latest researches done by scientists from Virginia Bioinformatics institution (VBI) have developed a new technology that will help by detecting genetic changes that will differentiate patients of cancer from healthy people. The technology is as per the recent studies published in the journals. The detections will one day serve as the best cancer predisposition test. Our blood cells have majority of non coding DNA. This means the ones that are not set down as proteins. Microsatellites are the specific category of these junk DNA. A human genome consist of two million satellite repeats, however, these repeats vary depending on the person. The most of its usage is made in forensic and paternity tests.

The VBI researches in Dec 2010 discovered a four nucleotide repeat (AAAG) in a particular gene called estrogen related receptor gamma (ESRPG). This is a very powerful gene that indicates the susceptibility of breast cancer through an individual’s genetic. The repetitive micro satellite DNA is much more present in cases of breast cancer. Similarly, patients with increased number of these repeats in the supporter areas of the ESPRG gene have the risks of three fold higher cancer susceptibility as compared to healthy people.

However when the latest studies were carried out, scientists instead of emphasizing on a single gene , they created a design for a fresh DNA micro array which allowed them to calculate more than 2 million of microsatellites in the human genome within a single experiment.

In the recent days, cancer has been one of the most widely observed fatal health conditions in people. Inventions of these finest technologies have made it the best attempt to convert its criticalities in to normal. With such an invention pace, soon we can take benefits of many more such technologies that would further lessen the troubles and would serve guarantee of the dreaded disease to be cured.

Abusive Behavior Leads Doctor in a Soup: His Privileges Plugged Out

When latent anger and old grudges seeps in, you may end being a shadow of yourself. In the ever demanding world of medicine, the doctors are being increasingly frustrated over their lack of free time and hours of operating time that sucks up all of their energy.

It is not surprise when somebody loses their cool and vents out the anger on everybody around. And that did happen some time back when one Dr Christian Guier was discharged from his surgical privileges after his ongoing abusive behavior which disrupted the whole peaceful decorum of the St John’s Medical Center. This orthopedic surgeon was termed as abusive by his peers and all of the OR staff signed a petition where they refused to work with him. Apparently, this abusive history of his has been going around for around 14 years.

According to a medical research, it has been said that about 97 % of the doctors and nurses have some kind of behavior problems. This is an alarming situation and it goes to show the people responsible for treating us are themselves in need for some psychological treatment. When a patient learns about such problems, he may think twice before getting himself operated by a abusive and frustrated doctor.

This matter should be treated with a lot of care because our health and well being depends upon their abilities. They cannot afford to lose their cool for the simple reason that it will affect the patient. Counseling could be a good idea so that the doctors open up to their personal problems.

Fingerprint to get your hands on any drug

You can soon be asked for a fingerprint while you want any prescription drugs owing to security reasons. With safety and security being a prime concern for all, the fingerprints are essential feel some to have a strong hold of the identity of the person who is buying the drug.

At present Florida is going for this law enforcement feels that there is a strong need of one such law over there to resist the illegal and the wrong doings over there.

According to a research in Florida, it has been noticed that there are around 7 people who die daily in the state due to the abuse regarding the prescription drugs which is truly dangerous.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement feels that that this abuse regarding the prescription drug has been a serious threat to the pharmacy industry. If this law is imposed, the pharmacist may ask you for a fingerprint whenever you may want to get a schedule II drug that consists of oxycodone or methodone. The ABC Action News over there also confirms that there are more pain clinics in Florida than the number of Burger king restaurants or MacDonald Restaurant. Also the pharmacies that claim them to be registered are actually not is what the Florida Health Department states. There are only 861 registered healthy clinics according to The Florida Department of health reports while The Florida enforcement of Health states that there are 1167 registered clinics which make it clear that there is something fishy for sure.

People with personal experiences who have themselves witness the consequences of this drug abuse are strongly in favor of the fingerprint. Laurie Serra is one of the victims as she lost her stepson Mathew at the age of 28. She mentioned that some bad doctors and pharmacist aided in this addiction of Mathew and that is how he got a total of 450 pills and 3 bottles of opiods that comprises of both oxycontin and oxycodone in a day.

However many are against this enforcement an feel that there is no need for the fingerprint every time you want these drugs and they feel why is it that the genuine cases are always facing the problem?

Lupus nephritis to be cured by a FDA approved drug

For the first time in 50 years, there is a medication that has been a medication that has been approved by FDA (Food And Drug Administration) for treating Lupus Nephritis. This kidney disorder is a form of systemic lupus systemic lupus erythematosus. Here the immune system is attacked as it is affected.

Till this time, the medications were not being approved as they used to restrain the functions of immune system. When the immune system was affected, it indirectly made the patients suffer from other worse health problems owing to heir weak immunity.

Benlysta was the injectable drug that could cure the disorder without lowering the immunity as it would only try to combat the hyperactive immune system. This is what Dr. Mary Anne Dooley from the University of North Carolina said supporting the FDA approval. However FDA feels that it has not been very beneficial for African Americans and is further into research and studying about this to find a proper medication to cure this disorder in them that might be effectual for them.

Till this time it has been difficult to diagnose and correct this disorder. So, with the innovation of this medication, it has been possible for those suffering from Lupus Nephritis as till this time there was no right medication that could cure it without affecting the body with its adverse effects. Now there is a ray of hope can be seen in those patients who have been desperately and in their diseased condition waiting for a remedy.
